About Me
I am an integrative psychotherapist which means I draw from a number of modalities including gestalt and psychodynamic. I work with clients to enhance awareness of how the past contributes to the present and informs so many of the choices and decisions we make. It can be both fascinating and painful to explore our early experiences and how they impact our daily lives but can also be an important stop on the way toward healing.
Psychotherapy is a second career for me. I realised that counting the years toward retirement in a high pressure corporate environment held little joy for me so with the support of friends and family I gave it all up, retraining in psychotherapy, finally qualifying aged, 50.
I live in Worcestershire and with my family and dog, enjoying the benefits of living in this most beautiful part of the world.
Qualifications
I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist (Reg: 2011185664). I am also a registered member of the BACP (Reg: 398001).
I trained at Newman University, Birmingham and qualified with an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies, and an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies.
Prior to this, I qualified in 1994 with a BA (Hons) in Humanities with English and Psychology from Nottingham Trent University.
Experience
It is my aim to help you see your situation more clearly, and to begin to identify thoughts and behaviours that help, and those that hinder. As your awareness of yourself and your relationships with others grow, the potential to change becomes possible.
I have worked with a range of client experiences including anxiety, depression, personality adaptations and other mental health issues.
I have worked therapeutically with clients experiencing loss, grief and bereavement including sudden-death and suicide as well as those processing the advancement of life-limiting illness.
I have extensive experience of therapeutic needs of victims/survivors of rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse and domestic abuse.
